My story is similar to the testimonies of so many Christians. I tried to live without God in my early years, but I failed at every turn. It was in the midst of a great struggle where confusion, a failing marriage, and feelings of inadequacy overwhelmed me, that I finally gave my life to Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
On a Sunday morning when all hope seemed lost, I knelt before the closet door in my bedroom, and I said these words, “I don’t know much, Jesus, but I know I need You to forgive me of all my sins, and I need You to come into my life.”
At that moment, I felt nothing; no relief, no goose bumps, no sorrow or joy, but without hesitation I said, “Jesus, I believe You heard me. I’m going to get up from here and go tell everyone I’m saved, so You might as well treat me like I am.” I stood to my feet, and I went away believing. From that moment on Jesus has been true to me, and I praise Him for it.
In 1981, I felt the call of God on my life, and after prayerful consideration I left my job to enter the ministry. I believed God had called me to be a pastor and a teacher, and I began to prepare for the journey that lay ahead.
By March of 1982, we held our first church service in the living room of our small ranch home in Botkins. One person came that day, and Only Believe Ministries Christian Center was born. Over the years, God has challenged us to grow, expand, and increase our faith.
God has given me a call to not only teach and train our congregation in the Word, but to send them into their neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities to preach the gospel. I am also compelled to travel to the nations of the world, preaching the simple gospel, and watching God confirm His Word with signs following. My one unchanging desire is to see Jesus Christ glorified in everything I do. This desire will never leave me, and I know that He will never forsake me.
God Bless You!
